KeekabooHow it works

Photos of your kids, for the people who love them.

Keekaboo is where the photos of your children go: to grandma, to the aunts and uncles, to the friends who babysit, and to nobody else. No ads, no algorithm.

Keekaboo is how the Dutch say peekaboo.

Coming to the App Store and Google Play. Got an invite? Open the link you were sent.

Three steps, and grandma is in.

  1. Share a moment

Pick a few photos or a video, say something about them, and choose who gets to see them.

  2. Send grandma a link

Text it, or let her scan a code on your phone. Until you say yes, all she sees is a blur.

  3. You decide who's in

She asks, you say yes, you pick how much she sees. Change your mind any time.

The closer they are, the more they see.

Each moment goes to one circle, and everyone closer sees it too.

  • You and your partner, in the middleYou both post, you both say who's in, and nobody has to share a password.
  • RelativesGrandparents, aunts and uncles. All of it.
  • Close friendsThe ones who babysit. Most of it.
  • FriendsColleagues and neighbours. The birthday party, not bath time.

Bath time stays in the family.

Nothing here can be made public, not even by accident.

  • Even we can't see your photos. Photos and videos are locked on your phone before they leave it, and we never have the key. Same for every backup.
  • Where it was taken stays with you. Your phone strips the location out before a photo goes anywhere. Want to say where you were? Type a place, and choose who sees that too.
  • No profiles to find. No search, no suggestions. Nobody gets in unless you say yes.
  • Lose your phone, not your photos. A new phone gets your key back from your iCloud or Google account. And if you and your partner lose everything at once, a relative can let you back in after a phone call and a day's wait.
  • Delete means delete. A photo you delete is out of sight at once and gone for good after thirty days, backups included.

Kept in Europe.

Everything you share is stored on servers in Germany, and every backup stays inside the EU.

Notifications go through Apple or Google, as they do for every app, so ours only say who did what. They never carry a photo.

Hand over the phone.

Toddler mode is just photos to swipe through. No comments, no notifications, nothing to tap. The only way out is holding the lock, then your face or passcode.

Peekaboo

With our daughter, it's the one game that always works. You hide behind your hands, then you're back, and she laughs every single time.

So does grandma, when a new photo comes in.

At home we call the game kiekeboe. Say Keekaboo out loud and you've just spoken Dutch.
